Strategic Sourcing Engineer

Your daily workout
  • You assume overall strategic responsibility for the commodity of purchased parts (such as: welded steel components, drive systems, electronic components, and more).
  • You develop the North American supplier strategy and selection in collaboration with the team, and determine timelines for the onboarding and ramp-up of new suppliers.
  • You take responsibility for the hands-on management and development of multiple suppliers and acting with autonomy and ownership, you will become the face of our team and ally to suppliers/partners.
  • You negotiate our contracts, build partnerships and be the first point of contact for our suppliers regarding engineering, development, costs, quality, availability, shipping, and more.
  • You work closely with the development team in Germany and North America on the introduction of new parts to reduce costs and complexity.
  • You are familiar with alternative material sourcing to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • You are open to continuous learning of new technical areas that support global needs. This role will change over time and flexibility and energy is important for shifting needs.
Your fitness level
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial management or other equivalent field.
  • You have a background in, or collaboration with, product development teams and have engineering experience within complex consumer or commercial market products.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience within Sourcing/Supplier Engineering, and preferably with a focus on steel fabrication, among others.
  • You have experience in using BOM management tools (ideally Arena) and are familiar with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • You possess in-depth knowledge of metal processing - forming, laser cutting, punching, powder coating, and especially robotic welding.
  • You have a structured and responsible way of working and enjoy working in a team setting.
  • You, ideally, have a pre-existing network of manufacturers in the industry, facilitating efficient collaboration and enhancing our production capabilities.
  • You have excellent skills in supplier management, supply base building, and maintaining partnerships  (specifically including Supplier Management, Sourcing, Quoting, Onboarding, Project Management, Team management skills etc…)
  • You thrive in fast-paced new project procurement cycles, and within new product development projects.
  • You demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, leadership skills, and excellent communication abilities.
  • You have a willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally to suppliers, and to our Headquarters in Munich, Germany (travel for this role is estimated 20-30%)
Your training goal for your first 6 months
  • You have developed a deep understanding of our tools and processes and can operate them properly.
  • You are well networked with your colleagues after your 1 month onsite onboarding phase in Munich, Germany.
  • You know our strength equipment very well and have spent at least one week working with our team in our partner’s assembly facility in Rhode Island.
  • You are able to independently support suppliers, moderate meetings, and distribute requirements to team colleagues.
  • Location: Denver, Colorado
The equipment we provide
  • You will earn an annual salary of $90,000 - $120,000.
    *Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and more.
