As our Customs & Tariffs Manager (m/f/d), you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth and compliant cross-border trade operations. Since this is a newly created position, you will also be instrumental in setting up customs-related systems, processes, and working structures, in collaboration with external customs experts and our logistics partners.   • Customs Operations: You manage the operational customs clearance processes for shipments between Europe, NA, and Asia, collaborating with external customs brokers for timely clearance and ensuring documentation accuracy and compliance
  • Tariff Codes: You maintain correct tariff codes, collaborate with customs brokers, and set up master data attributes for smooth processing  
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You partner with Procurement, Logistics, and Finance teams, integrating customs processes into supply chain workflows 
  • Trade Compliance: You support and gradually lead the implementation of compliance systems and standard operating procedures, while identifying duty-saving opportunities. Additionally, you will monitor and manage customs-related risks, proactively resolving any issues with customs authorities 
  • Process Improvement: You stay up-to-date with international customs laws, tariffs, and trade agreements, driving continuous improvement in customs and compliance processes  
Your fitness level
  • Experience: You have 5+ years of experience in customs operations, tariff classification, and trade compliance (ideally in a global manufacturing or trading environment
  • Expertise: You have strong knowledge of EU and NA customs processes (Asia a plus), HS classification, rules of origin, and Incoterms 
  • Systems & Tools: You are familiar with customs platforms such as ATLAS, AES, or equivalents, and feel comfortable establishing new processes 
  • Collaboration & Communication: You work effectively with brokers, freight forwarders, and cross-functional teams, backed by strong communication skills
  • Language Skills: You are fluent in English (German a plus), proactive, detail-oriented, and thrive in low-structure environments
Your training goal for your first 6 months
  • Technical Onboarding: You have developed a deep understanding of our customs tools, processes, and documentation requirements
  • Collaboration: You are well-connected with colleagues from Production, Procurement, and Logistics, ensuring smooth cross-functional workflows
  • Product Knowledge: You know our strength equipment and key components in detail, enabling effective customs classification
  • Ownership: You can independently manage customs appointments, moderate meetings, and coordinate requirements with stakeholders
